ITEM DETAILS Title: John BrownAuthor: Joseph Edgar Chamberlin Publisher: Small, Maynard & Company, BostonPublication Date: 1899Edition: 1st Edition Condition: Good ITEM DESCRIPTION Today we are pleased to offer this nicely preserved volume on John Brown! A great find from a local New England estate! This scarce antique volume is over 125 years old! 1st Edition. In good condition overall! Original publisher cloth binding shows some wear, including rubbing and light soiling to the boards and spine, general wear around the extremities including light bumping to the corners and spine extremes, and some rubbing and soiling to the page edges, including the gilt top edge. Otherwise this is an attractive, well-preserved antique volume! Gilt title lettering on the spine displays nicely from the shelf. Internally, this volume is in good shape overall. There is some light cracking visible to the front hinge, however both boards and all page groupings remain attached to the binding. There are no signatures, inscriptions, bookplates or library markings to note. The text block of this volume is clean throughout. There is just typical age-related toning to the pages, as well as some light foxing and soiling scattered throughout, and some minor edge wear in spots, but otherwise this volume is clean and free from rips, tears, writing and markings. Perfectly readable throughout! Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of Brown.
