This is an EXTREMELY RARE pottery jug that was a promotional advertising item for Forbes & Hubbard Store, once located in Old Trap, North Carolina! Quite possibly one-of-a-kind; online searches and major auction archives for at least the past fifteen years return no results for this jug. The business changed names several times, but this appears to date to sometime between 1895 and the construction of a new building in 1927. May have once contained a whiskey nip. White or light gray slip with cobalt blue stencil. No manufacturer mark. Measures approx. 3-3/4" high. A great addition to your North Carolina pottery, miniature jug, Camden County memorabilia or crockery collection! CONDITION DETAILS: NEAR MINT. Fine glaze crazing. Kiln marks on bottom.
