Description: Handsome original 1889 antique color lithographed map of Alaska and part of the Northwest Territory, printed more than 130 years ago, seven years before gold was discovered in the Klondike. The image area measures 24.2 x 31.4 cm [9½" x 12¼"], and the map labels natural features and locates forts and Indian villages. Among the named places and features are the Hudson's Bay Company trading post in Taku Harbor, Fort Alexander, Katmai, Nanagyak, Port Valdez, Alaganik Village, Point Barrow, Porcupine River, Fort Wrangel, Norton Sound, Lake Labarge, Fort Good Hope, Reid House, Shiningrua, Fairweather Ground, and the Kwichpak or Yukon River. Sitka is identified as the territorial capital. This map was published in Cram's Unrivaled Atlas of the World, revised to December 1, 1889 and copyrighted © 1887 by George F. Cram, Chicago. Condition: It is in excellent condition, bright and clean, with no marks, rips, or tears. Please see the scans and feel free to ask any questions. It is an original, authentic antique map, not a reproduction or modern reprint, and it is fully guaranteed to be genuine. It would make a great display in your den or office. It would also make a perfect gift, and we'll include our helpful framing tips for your reference, along with a photocopy of the dated title page of the book in which it was published.
