Description: This fantastic Tobacco card was issued by the WM.S. Kimball & Co. as an insert premium in their brands of Tobacco and Cigarettes during 1889. These cards are from a fairly rare series of 50 cards entitled , “BALLET QUEENS” . Designated N182 in the American Card Catalogue . The front of the card features a colorful image of a woman in what must have been very provocative dress back in it’s time. In fact they do not look like your typical Ballet Dancers, more like the women from the Moulin Rouge, or a Paris Burlesque Theatre House. The back features a list of the 50 cards in the series. The Lithography for the cards is exceptional . This card features the dancer named CORINNE The Card measures 2 ¾ inches by 1 ½ inches approximately. The card does have some edge and corner wear, and a few spots of discoloration but is free from creases, and I think displays well. I have scanned the cards fairly large for you to be able to judge condition for yourself. This card would make an excellent gift for anyone interested in early risqué images (does this qualify as vintage erotica ?) or early Theatre / Burlesque History. . Don't miss out on this OVER 130 year old piece. As it is over 100 years old it is a true American Antique.
