Very scarce. This is a fascinating work of medical history from the late 19th century, in which Johnson Symington depicts the anatomy of children. Illustrated with fourteen coloured plates and thirty-three woodcuts. Professor Johnson Symington was a lecturer on anatomy at the School of Medicine in Edinburgh. A highly praised and well recognised anatomist and zoologist, Symington served as both the President of the Ulster Medical Society and late as the President of the Anatomical Society of Great Britain and Ireland. CONDITION In a green cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, though with some marks and light bumping. Hinges have been reinforced with cloth tape. Internally, firmly bound. Institutional ink stamps throughout. Pages are generally bright, but with some scattered spotting throughout.
