1885 OUTLINES OF THE LIFE OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE STRATFORD plays letters

Description: I have here for sale a book entitled OOUTLINES OF THE LIFE OF SHAKESPEARE. By J.O HALLIWELL-PHILLIPPS. James Orchard Halliwell-Phillipps was an English Shakespearean scholar who published an impressive array of texts on the works and life of Shakespeare. He is best known for this text, his 'Outlines of the Life of Shakespeare' that is regularly cited in arguments regarding the Shakespeare authorship question, by both Anti-Stratfordians and Shakespearean scholars. The text provides an impressive study of the particulars of Shakespeare's life, collated through Halliwell-Phillipps' extensive research of documents and sources found in local records of the period. Halliwell-Phillips was also known for collecting English fairy tales and nursery rhymes, publishing the first printed version of the 'Three Little Pigs' and a version of the Christmas carol 'The Twelve Days of Christmas' within his 'Nursery Rhymes and Nursery Tales' and 'Nursery Rhymes of EnglandPublished in 1885 by LONGMANS, GREEN AND CO, London. With illustrations within the text and facsimiles of letters by Shakespeare. Bound in original green linen boards. Unfortunately tape has been applied as a repair to the front edge of the spine. Gilt crest to the front board and gilt title lettering to the spine. Board corners and spine ends are bumped. Back edge of the spine is split. Despite this the boards remain firm. Green endpapers. Small mark on the ffep. Light foxing to the first few pages. This book is in good condition, it remains tightly bound with no loose or missing pages 640pp 27cm x 21cm. Postage and packing : I know that you will be looking forward to receiving your order, each book is carefully wrapped in bubble wrap and posted in a Jiffy bag if size permitting, if not it is wrapped in bubble wrap, cardboard, brown paper and then securely taped.
