Description: Here's a 1" brass or bronze token or medal showing the man who received the 1880 democrat party's presidential nomination, Civil War General Winfield Scott Hancock. Considered one of the heroes of the Battle of Gettysburg, Hancock was nicknamed "The Superb," off a praiseworthy comment by his commander, George McClellan. He barely lost this election to another Civil War general, James Garfield, or history may have had one less assassinated president! National turnout was one of the highest recorded and yet the vote difference between the men was a mere 1900 votes! Imagine that in those days with such limited technology. What's cool about this token is that it shows Hancock's unit insignia from the war with the "superb" quote on the reverse. We also have a token with both him and his running mate, William English on it, our item 275613371530. This is in nice condition but please look at our images to judge condition for yourself so you can be happy with your purchase. We are members of APIC and sell only authentic presidential (and other collectible) material so buy with confidence. We'll be happy to combine S & H costs on multiple purchases even though eBay claims we don't. We just issue a refund for any overpayment. Shipping on this will be $5.85, sent carefully packed with tracking. 9441
