Description: I have here for sale a book entitled THE TRAVELLER A POEM by Oliver Goldsmith, illustrated by Birket Foster, and published by David Bogue, London. Undated but thought to be circa 1880. This is a republishing of Goldsmith 'The Traveller or, a Prospect of Society' originally published 1764. Beautifully illustrated with 30 intext etchings on steel. Printed on thick cardstock pages, with tissue guards between each page. Bound in brown hardboards with bevelled edges. Gilt lettering to the spine, and ornate gilt decoration to the both boards and the spine. Gilt page edges. Bumped and chipped to the head and tail of the spine. Boards firm and binding tight. Pencil inscription to the prelims, otherwise pages clean. This book is in very good overall condition. 39 pages. 22.5 cm x 16 cm.
