Covers exhibit scuffing and corners are bumped. Hinges are rubbed and beginning to split at the bottom. Head and tail are collapsed and binding is exposed at the tail. Gilt lettering and illustration on front cover is bright and clean. All edges gilt. Front end page with provenance signature is detached. Text block is toned with instances of finger soiling. Some pages ripped at edges. Free of marginalia. Binding is shaken and brittle, but in tact. Please see photos. Constance Runcie (1836-1911) was an American author, pianist, and composer. She was the granddaughter of Robert Owen, the manufacturer and philanthropist who moved to Indian in 1824 to establish a new socialistic society. In Divinely Led, Runcie recalls her grandfather and the community he established at New Harmony, Indiana. In this short book she recounts her spiritual journey and conversion as well as recounts history of the community. This copy is inscribed by the author to a friend Bessie Walker. COLPAP-0918-RT32
