Description: It is an original antique map with handcoloring and a centerfold as issued. It is from Gray's Atlas of the United States (Philadelphia: O.W. Gray & Son). It is by O.W. Gray, Civil and Topographical Engineer with a 1873 copyright date in small print along the bottom border. A copy of the title page is included. The map is not mounted, matted nor framed, being sold as a single sheet as seen in the main pic. A very rare and beautiful early Railroad map of Illinois. Size: The map image measures approximately 15 1/2 by 26 inches on a 17 1/4 by 28 1/2" page with a wide margin all around as seen in the pic. Condition: The map is in Good to Very Good condition with overall tonal aging with some darkening around the edges and a centerfold as issued, balnk on reverse, basically as seen in the pics. There are a couple of slightly clipped corners and splits of an inch and two inches at the ends of the centerfold, repaired on reverse. Other than some darkening and a few short tear on the edge, the map is very clean with no obvious distracting defects. It is a strong impression with bright color that would frame up very nicely.
