Item 484575 ◊ 1875-1880s Two Cartes De Visite Lot, 2 CDVs of Charming Young Women A rare and original, "1875-1880s Two Cartes De Visite Lot, 2 CDVs of Charming Young Women." Each is an outstanding, period photograph, showing an upper body shot with a typical fashion, hair styles and collars of the era. On the first card approx. 2-1/4" X 3-3/8" (5.5 cm. X 8.5 cm. ) and is mounted on its original Card Mount, which measures approx. 4-1/2" X 2-1/2" (9.5 cm X 6.3 cm.) was produced by the Prior Bros., whose photographic studio was located on Providence, RI. They ran their business there in the 1880's, and can be found the the city Directory for several years in that decade. This lovely photograph is in good condition. Although the photograph is clear with great detail, there is some surface wear on the front, damage to the upper left-hand corner, and some damage to the surface of the back of the card. This photo was kept in a scrap book and it appears that a previous owner trimmed the lower corners to protect the the album from damage. The second card measures approx. 2-1/4" X 3-3/8" (5.5 cm. X 8.5 cm. ) and is mounted on its original Card Mount, which measures approx. 4-1/2" X 2-1/2" (9.5 cm X 6.3 cm.) The photograph was taken by Charles E Lewis, who operated out of Lebanon, NH in the later half of the 1870's. His studio was mentioned in the Briggs & Co. Lewis, Charles E., photographer, Lebanon, NH (1874) Briggs & Co. NH Business Directory; Charles E. Lewis, photographer, Blodgett's block, Lebanon, NH (1875) Briggs' and Co. New Hampshire Business Directory. This second card is in very good condition. This photo is also very clear. The is some minor surface wear, but the corners and edges are in good shape, and the back is pristine.
