It is printed on a very heavy stiff card stock like paper, blank on the reverse. It is from William Cullen Bryant's Picturesque America or The Land We Live In, 3 vol., (New York: Appleton, 1872-4). These prints all have a copyright date of 1872-4 printed on the them along with the publisher's name in small print along the bottom center margin. The artist's name appears in the bottom left and the engraver's name in the bottom right margin. A facsimile copy of the title page is included for authenticity. It is being sold as a single sheet and is not mounted, matted or framed, basically as seen in the pic. In general, these prints represent the Romantic view that was current in the 19th century often including small figures for scale and emphasizing the sublime and grandeur of nature. Overall, a rare print with some very fine engraved line work and a beautiful design that would frame up beautifully! Size: The image area measures approximately 5 1/2 by 9 1/2 inches (14x24cm) on a 9 1/2 by 12 1/2" (24x32cm) page with a margin all around as seen in the pic. Condition: The print is in Very Good condition for its age, printed on a very strong buff colored stiff paper. It is basically as seen in the pic. There are a few minor specks in the margin, otherwise it is very clean and would frame up nicely. The pics are of the actual print.
