Description: For the next week or so I will be listing historical vintage newspapers, some dating to the early 1800s, some WWII, some military issue, etc., as well as my usual photos, documents, advertising, letters, postcards, and other ephemera. I frequent local auctions and estate sales up and down the East Coast where I pick up lots of fun old stuff and list almost all of it on Ebay. Check my other auctions for more old newspapers, ephemera and other fun old stuff. All items guaranteed to be vintage and original. DESCRIPTION: March 16, 1872 issue of THE SUN, a vintage, original newspaper, over 150 years old! The four page paper is complete, as issued and in great condition. This was at the height of the reign of the Tammany Hall machine so the front page is mostly political and financial news. There are articles on robber barons Jay Gould and James "Diamond Jim" Fisk. Also the Erie Railroad Scandal and Mayor Hall's trial. Other good local city news and advertising. Great fun for anyone with an interest in NYC history. All items guaranteed vintage and authentic - no reproductions or reprints. See my other auctions for lots of other fun old stuff! "The Sun was a New York newspaper published from 1833 until 1950. It was considered a serious paper, like the city's two more successful broadsheets, The New York Times and the New York Herald Tribune. The Sun was the first successful penny daily newspaper in the United States, and was for a time, the most successful newspaper in America. The paper had a central focus on crime news, in which it was a pioneer, and was the first journal to hire a police reporter. Its audience was primarily working class readers." CONDITION: Fine/Very Fine. Complete and intact with typical folds and light age toning. Very clean with minimal foxing, very light wear on the edges and corners, no creases, rips, or other damage. The integrity of the paper is excellent - not brittle, no chipping or flaking. This newspaper can be opened and handled without fear of damage. Displays nicely. US SHIPPING OPTIONS: Shipping in the US in a large manila envelope with NO reinforcers - $2.00. Via USPS Ground Advantage in a sturdy box with tracking and insurance - $5.00. Your choice. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: Shipping in a large manila envelope with NO reinforcers - $5.00. Any package valued $100 or more will require insurance, which will make overseas shipping very expensive - around $65. WAIT FOR MY INVOICE BEFORE SENDING PAYMENT!! ALSO; I use Ebay shipping labels. It's the only way I can prove to Ebay that I shipped a package to the proper address if ever there's a dispute. Unfortunately, those labels will always have customs information - including the actual price of the merchandise - clearly printed on them. I realize that customs fees are a concern in the UK and other countries, but you'll just have to figure that into your cost when placing bids. TO ALL BUYERS: If there's a problem, contact me. I'm easy to work with. I may goof things up once in a while, but I've always been able to work out any problems. All items guaranteed to be AS DESCRIBED. Check my feedbacks. Buyer must notify seller within 48 hours if not satisfied with purchase. I will occasionally sell an item in poor condition AS IS with No Returns. Any AS IS sale will will be clearly indicated as such.
