Description: Hard to find oversized baseball player tintype from the 1800's Excellent quality tintype of a mustached right-hand batter posed with bow tie and knickers. He is holding a 19th Century piece of quality lumber, all ready for action. In Very Good to Excellent condition, with two light bends; one in the left side of the bottom quarter, in the background setting and a smaller one in the extreme bottom right corner. Measures 3.5 x 5", this size is an intermediate one in between a quarter plate and half plate. A less common size called a "third plate". Identified on the back as "Wm. Orr".....this is scratched in. Originated from upstate New York. You don't see baseball related tintypes this size too often. It is a very nice example, with wonderful eye appeal. $8.00 shipping.
