A scarce piece on the McFarland-Richardson murder trial in New York City. McFarland had repeatedly abused his much younger wife, who ultimately divorced him and sought the affections of Richardson. McFarland subsequently shot and fatally wounded Richardson, who would marry McFarland’s ex-wife shortly before dying of his injuries. The trial was extremely sensationalized and McFarland was acquitted, under the defense that he was defending his home against improper behaviors. COLPAP-1322
