Size: 8vo (17.8cm x 11.5cm).Good internal condition, in Fair only binding. Both boards and rear index leaves detached but present. Boards with light wear and cloth chipped at head and foot of spine. Ink ownership inscriptions to front fly leaf. Some spotting to half-title, title and first 2 leaves of prelims, as well as index leaves. Only a few light spots of foxing elsewhere. Light age-toning to leaves. (Please ask if you require a more detailed condition report, or view gallery images closely.A detailed account of all the executions carried out at York Castle. In addition to the 260 pages of text are three unnumbered leaves at the rear giving accounts of executions in 1868, 1874 and 1878, i.e. after the publication date on the title page. The penultimate of these is an account of the first 'private' execution at the castle, of William Jackson for the murder of his sister on August 18th, 1874.
