Poet Theodore Tilton's new verse, The Mystery of Nature. E.H. House's story set in the 18th Century: "A Wife by Wager." G.E. Ellis pens a longer essay in review of historian Francis Parkman's The Jesuits in North America in the Seventeenth Century. F.M. Finch's Civil War-related verse (a Mississippi cemetery scene): The Blue and the Gray. F. Sheldon's article, "Fugitives from Labor."
