Description: U.S. Coins Medals This is a re-strike of the medal originally produced in 1861. The medal is bronze with the obverse featuring a portrait of George Washington in right profile. The legend inscription reads, "THE CONSTITUTION IS SACREDLY OBLIGATORY ON ALL." The reverse states that this medal is a product of the U.S. Mint and the oath of allegiance was taken by officers and workmen of the mint in Philadelphia, PA following the New Orleans mint employees swearing allegiance to the Confederacy. This medal was designed by the engraver Anthony C. Paquet and struck at the Philadelphia mint to commemorate the completion of the requirement that all mint personnel swear an oath of allegiance to the constitution. The requirement was completed about five weeks after the union defeat in the first battle at Bull Run (July 21, 1861). Shipping to the U.S. is $5 via USPS Mail. International buyers are welcome.
