Description: This is a lot of 10 Civil War-era issues of "The Tribune Almanac and Political Register" from 1860 to 1870 - included are the years 1860, 1861, 1863, 1864, 1865, 1866, 1867, 1868, 1869 and 1870 (a near-complete run, 1862 is not included). Published by Horace Greeley & Company and The Tribune Association in New York. Each issue contains a monthly calendar with moon phase/tidal information ("Occultations, Seasons, Time, etc." - as would be found in a Farmer's Almanac) as well as numerous illustrated advertisements. Most significant, though, is the information related to the Civil War. These issues were owned by George Wadleigh, United States Rear Admiral from Dover, New Hampshire who served in the Civil War and the Spanish-American War. Scarce, near-complete run of 10 original, individual issues (not re-printed in book form) spanning pre-, during, and post-Civil War. Here are examples of the contents: 1860: The Foreign Slave Trade - A Record from the action of Congress, showing the increasing favor with which the reopening of the Trade is regarded by the South 1861: 1860 "Popular Vote for President" election results by state for the race between Abraham Lincoln, Stephen Douglas, John Breckinridge and John Bell (this is the first issue showing these results...the results also appear in issues for subsequent years) 1863: The Rebel Government, Senate and House (with Jefferson Davis listed as President); Chronicle of the Slaveholder's Rebellion 1864: Shrinkage of the Rebellion - Use of War Materiel; Abraham Lincoln's "Proclamation of Amnesty; Vote for Speaker, and on Arming Negroes; The Rebel Government - Members of Present and Incoming Congress (with Jefferson Davis listed as President); Finances of the Rebels - Enormous Prices in Richmond 1865: 1864 "Election Returns for President" by state for the race between Abraham Lincoln and George McClellan; The Rebel Government, Congressmen, &c; Slaveholders' Rebellion, or Chronicle of War Events; Vote of 1860 elaborately analyzed and compared by Population, Free and Slave, with percentage &c. 1866: Second Inaugural of President Lincoln; Slaveholder's Rebellion, or Chronicle of War Events; President Johnson on the Negro Question 1867: The Civil Rights Bill; The Freedmen's Bureau Bill; Popular Vote for President by States in 1864, 1860 and 1856; The Constitutional Amendment 1868: Progress of Reconstruction in 1867; The Impeachment Question (related to President Andrew Johnson) 1869: Impeachment of President Johnson - Trial and Acquittal; National Platforms of 1868 (with Ulysses S.
