Washington D.C. A.O.P. Nicholson Printer, 1859.About the work: United States Pacific Railroad Expeditions and Surveys were published in twelve volumes between 1853-1861. The expeditions was funded by the U.S. Government and included artist, scientists and surveyors, whose job was to document the American West and find suitable routes for transcontinental railroad lines. The series contain a monumental collection of scientific information, ethnographic, geographical, zoological, botanical, geological, of the still mysterious American West. Various illustrators, engravers, lithographers, cartographers and printing firms contributed to the publication. Condition: Good - foxing, toning & age-related staining. Multiple binding pin holes present to the left margin side of the sheet but outside of the plate area. Please examine the scan.
