Description: First Edition Published in 1856 by J H Colton and Company. Poor to Fair condition hardcover book. 40 color maps and numerous engravings. United States as well as different sections of the US, other continents, as well as a few other countries as individual maps. The maps are in good to very good condition. Lots of text about each state and country as well. Book size is about 9-3/4” by 8-1/4” Exterior: binding has solid hinges, even though s much hinge paper is cracked. Red leather spine and illustrated paper over boards. Heavily worn corner, edge, and spine. Some paper loss on front cover. One area of this loss still has most of the paper attached, but folded over. This book has a bow/warp top to bottom. I believe this could be corrected. Interior: Most of the pages have some foxing. The foxing is mostly found on the bottom page corners, where finger prints would register. Endpapers have some kind of abstract looking toning. Endpapers have old fountain pen writing. Front free endpaper has a price using a modern pen. Bottom free page corners are creased (mostly soft creasing). Back free endpaper has a couple small open top corner tears. 123 pages plus some book ads in the back.
