Description: Up for auction is an 1847 ROGERS BROS. 52-piece Silverware Set. The set includes 8 forks, 8 salad forks, 16 spoons, 8 soup spoons, 1 teaspoon, 2 serving spoons, 8 knives, and 1 small butter knife. Each piece has a rose styled design on the handle. The entire set comes in a wooden tarnish resisting chest that has a green felt like liner and a white satin like material inside the lid. The white satin material does have a rip in it and a couple pin holes where a wedding announcement was attached. (see pictures) There are a couple different labels inside that read "1847 Rogers Bros. America's Finest Silverplate" and "Tarnish resisting Chest Tested and Approved by The Laboratories of the International Silver Co.". The entire chest measures about 17 1/2" long, 11 1/2" wide and about 4" deep. The chest has a metal handle that has a brushed brass finish to it. In the back the lid is fastened with two hinges that are secured tight without any wobble to them. There are minor scuff marks in the wood that are not very noticeable which could possibly be touched up with polish. I'm not sure of the manufacturing date of the silverware but my parents received it for a wedding gift in 1968. This Silverware Set would make a great gift or a great addition to any dining room collection. Please feel free to ask questions and I will try to answer them in a timely manner. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!!
