Description: 1841 William James Müller, Muller's Sketches of the age of Francis the First 26 large and fine tinted drawings on stone of splendid Architecture and Picturesque Old Buildings in France (H. Graves, 1841) Size 15” x 21.75” I have pictured 16 of the lithographs. The glue has given way on the binding so the etchings are loose. The individual etchings are being sold for $75 plus depending on title. Hopefully someone will want to keep this somewhat rare folio book together. Complete of 26 Lithographies under serpente. To Her Most Gracious Majesty Queen Adelaide this volume of Sketches illustrative of the Age of Francis 1st, is most respectfully dedicated by Her Majesty's most obedient, and obliged humble Servant, Willm MÜLLER. Illustrated. William James Müller (28 June 1812 - 8 September 1845), English landscape and figure painter, the best-known artist of the Bristol School. William Müller was part of the Bristol School, and studied under James Baker Pyne (1800-1870). His early work took the bucolic surroundings of Gloucestershire and Wales as its subject matter, and drawings such as this one were influenced by painters including Claude Lorrain and Jacob van Ruisdael.
