Frederika Bremer was a Swedish writer, whose 'Sketches of Everyday Life' made her a popular writer in Britain, often being called the Swedish Jane Austen. Bremer was also a feminist reformer, establishing the first female tertiary school in Sweden. Her works include 'Hertha'. Catharine Sedgwick was an American novelist, and became one of the most popular American writers of her time. This volumes includes 'The Linwoods', which is a historical romance set in the American Revolution. Henry David Inglis, also known by his pseudonym Derwent Conway, was a Scottish travel writer. 'Tales of the Ardennes' was his first work, and was very well received upon its publication. Inglis also published travels works on Norway, Sweden, France, and Spain. CONDITION In the original diced calf binding. Externally, smart. Light fading and patches of rubbing to the joints and to the spine, mostly to the raised bands. Minor marking to the boards, causing just a little discolouration. Light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. The odd spot to the fore edge and to the endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
