It is an original map from Nathan Hale's An Epitome of Universal Geography, published in Boston, by N. Hale, Richardson & others, 1830. A facsimile copy of the title page is included for authenticity. Nathan Hale was the nephew of the famous Boston patriot, for whom he was named. He was active in Boston and created several important large scale maps with greater accuracy of the New England area. This map is in its original uncolored state from a very scarce atlas of the period. It is not mounted, matted nor framed, being sold as a single sheet as seen in the main pic. Overall, a very nice miniature size map that is well preserved, printed on cotton rag page typical of the period, that would frame up nicely with an antique appearance.Size: The map image area, between the neat lines, measures approximately 3 3/4 by 6 inches on a 4 1/2 by 7 1/4" (12x17cm) page as seen in the picCondition: The map is in Good condition, uncolored as issued with text on the reverse. There is some light backprinting and browning, otherwise it is printed on strong paper with an nice antique appearance, see the pics for more on condition.
