Some of the biographies are accompanied by engravings.Originally published in 1775 by John Howie, this edition has been revised by William McGavin, with a preface and notes added. This is a smart edition in half leather with a marbled boards. CONDITION In a half calf binding, with marbling to the boards. Externally generally smart, lightly rubbed on the spine and boards. Internally, firmly bound, foxed to first and last few pages, otherwise a few scattered spots.
