This volume includes local records and historical events which have occured in Durham, Northumberland, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Berwick-upon-Tweed between the years AD120 and AD1799. The second volume of the work covered the same area between AD1800 and AD1832. Sykes documented these events in order to encourage local people to regard the history of their county. With 31 vignettes throughout the work. Collated, complete. CONDITION In half calf binding with green cloth boards. Externally, sound with slight rubbing to spine and to extremities. Slight loss to leather on corners. Occasional mark to boards. Front board detached but present. Light age toning and spotting to endpapers. Internally firmly bound. Loss to paper of dedication page, not affecting text. Pages age toned with the occasional spotting, mainly to first and last pages.
