Description: These are copper plate engravings by Dutch artist Schelte Adamsz Bolswert 1586-1659, after works by Flemish artist, Peter Paul Rubens 1577-1640. They were published by Gillis Hendricx 1642-1677. I believe these copper plate engravings, were from a set of six, that were works by Rubens, near the end of his life. One has a washed out bridge with a man on horse back, drinking from a stream, that’s numbered 4. The engraving has most likely been trimmed, measuring 17 3/4”x 12 5/8”, with the printed portion measuring 17 1/2”x 12 1/8”. There are no tears, but there is minor foxing. The other engraving is in very good condition, of a beautiful landscape, with people and animals, under a stormy sky. The engraving measures 18”x 12 1/2” and has the artist, Ruben, the engraver Bolswert and the publisher Hendricx’s names on the engraving. Both are laid on a paper, under glass, with a wooden backing, in identical antique frames, that are both in good condition.
