Cooke's Editions were a pocket library series, a cheap series that was beautifully illustrated.Two entertaining Georgian poetry collections, by the authors John Cunningham and Thomas Parnell.'Cunningham' illustrated with two plates, and tailpieces.'Parnell' illustrated with three plates, and tailpieces.Both volumes contain a brief life of the author.John Cunningham was an Irish poet, playwright, and actor, known for his name and fame being identifies with Newcastle after he saw popularity in the city. He was just seventeen when he wrote his first drama, and continued to write poetry as he earned his living as an actor.Thomas Parnell was also an Irish poet, a clergyman who is known for his friendships with Alexander Pope and Jonathan Swift. He is considered to be one of the 'Graveyard Poets'.Undated, dated from Jisc from the University of Edinburgh Libraries. CONDITION In the original paper covered boards. Externally, generally firmly bound. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Some rubbing to the boards and spines, with some loss of paper to the boards of 'Parnell'. Spines are a little faded. A small amount of loss to the spine label of 'Cunningham'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean. Pages uncut to the top edge.
