In good condition, leather boards are soft but worn. Flaking along spine extremes and missing segments. Beautiful gilt work on spine. Original labels. Dampness marks throughout each volume. Previous owner’s name on title page. Foxing throughout. Slightly tanned, as to be expected. Please see photos. John Hawkesworth was an English writer and book editor. He succeeded Samuel Johnson as compiler of the parliamentary debates for the “Gentleman’s Magazine”. The Adventurer ran for 140 issues, of which 70 were the pen of Hawkesworth himself.
