A very scarce work. 'Plates to the Geometrical and Graphical Essays' by George Adams, corrected and enlarged by William Jones. The second edition, published in 1797.The second work is illustrated with thirty-four folding plates. Collated, all plates are present.George Adams was an eighteenth century scientist, being the mathematical instrument maker to George III. He invented the lucernal microscope, and also built globes.This plate volume was originally issued alongside the text volume. Fourteen pages to the rear titled 'A Catalogue of Optical Mathematical, and Philosophical Instruments, Made by W. and S. Jones'.Two pages of publisher's adverts to the rear. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. CONDITION In a full rebacked calf binding. Externally, with some rubbing to the boards and spine. Light bumping to the extremities. Faint tidemark to the fore edge of the first work and first few pages of the second work.
