Description: I have here for sale two books entitled AN HISTORICAL AND CHRONOLOGICAL DEDUCTION OF THE ORIGIN OF COMMERCE from the Earliest Accounts containing an History of the Great Commercial Interests of the British Empire to which is prefixed an Introduction exhibiting a View of the Ancient and Modern State of Europe; and of the Foreign and Colonial Commerce, Shipping, Manufactures, Fisheries, etc of Great Britain and Ireland; and their Influence on the Landed Interest, with Two Appendixes the one containing The Modern Politico-Commercial Geography of the Several Countries of Europe, and the other an Account of some New Manufactures, Useful Inventions, and Recent Commercial Regulations. No author given but it was Adam Anderson. The books were published by J Walter, London in 1787 and 1760 respectively using the Logographic Press method of printing. Really both books were published at the same time, 1787, but for Volume IV the Logographic Press did not update the date of publication. Vol III covers the period 1701 to 1762 plus the Appendix (164 pages) plus Alphabetical and Chronological Index. Vol IV covers 1763 to 1788 plus an Appendix with information too late to go in the main book (reform of the PO, the Coal Trade, Mechanical Inventions, etc), plus Index. Bound in full tree calf with gilt border. Gilt tooling with maroon title labels and gilt lettering to the spines. Some chipping to heads and tails. Front board of Vol IV is detached. Otherwise boards in very good condition. Marbled endpapers with bookplates. Pages clean and firm. Vol III - 508 pages + index, Vol IV - 718 plus index. 28 x 22 cm. Postage will be by Air Mail outside of UK. If you buy more than one item then the postage cost falls for the second and further items as I will put them into one parcel - so you save money. We wrap and post the parcels on Monday and Tuesday - therefore if you pay before midday on Tuesday we will get it in the postal sacks on Tuesday night, and if it is after that time then it will go into the postal service on the following Monday.
