Description: I have here for sale a book entitled THE COMPLEAT HOUSEWIFE: or Accomplish'd Gentlewoman's Companion. It has no title page but we have sold this book before and know that it was written by Eliza Smith and published around 1742-1747. It covers hundreds of recipes, some of which are quite unpalatable for us today! Also medicinal recipes to cure a whole host of ailments. Index at the rear and then there are 6 fold-out plates of menus/table layouts for suppers/lunches etc. These are all detached and some are torn with a few parts missing. Disbound with leather hardboards still present but detached and no spine covering. All the pages are detached. Boards worn. The book requires a resew and rebind. (16), 366 pages, Index (I-XIV). 21 cm x 13 cm. We have over 2000 items in our Ebay shop on a range of subjects, so please feel free to have a browse and see if anything else takes your fancy. Postage will be by Air Mail outside of UK. If you buy more than one item then the postage cost falls for the second and further items as I will put them into one parcel - so you save money. We wrap and post the parcels on Monday and Tuesday - therefore if you pay before midday on Tuesday we will get it in the postal sacks on Tuesday night, and if it is after that time then it will go into the postal service on the following Monday.
