Description: Extremely Fine James II Ireland Gun Money 1 shilling coin. Dated March 1690, issued during the rebellion after the "Glorious Revolution" of William and Mary. "Gun Money" was an emergency coinage made from cannon, church bells, etc used for rebellion military payment. Obverse: laureate head of James facing left. Reverse: Crown with crossed scepters and date 1690 XII (mark of value = 12 pence = 1 shilling) above and Mar: below. Certified by NGC to XF 45 (vintage NGC holder). Catalog: S-6581P.
