Registered with Company House. 12 Etchings by Jacques Callot Les Gueux 1622 "The Beggars" - original old master Prints Jacques Callot, Twelve original etchings [of 25] from Les Gueux (1592-1635), etchings, first state (of two), before the plate numbers, 1mm margins on all sides, laid down onto three album sheets, with associated browning, staining and spotting, sheets 140 x 89 mm, 1622. Presented in oblong frames, of which two have been glazed. Frame sizes; 51cm x 30cm. "M R" stated to lower margins. Original to 1622. Jacques Callot (French: [ʒak kalo]; c. 1592 – 1635) was a baroque printmaker and draftsman from the Duchy of Lorraine (an independent state on the north-eastern border of France, southwestern border of Germany and overlapping the southern Netherlands). He is an important person in the development of the old master print. He made more than 1,400 etchings that chronicled the life of his period, featuring soldiers, clowns, drunkards, Romani, beggars, as well as court life.
