Description: A beautiful Battalion of 27 (24 rank and file, 3 Cmd with Eagle) French Light infantry, more commonly known as Chasseurs. Light infantry was organized similar to line infantry. Battalions were split into 6 companies, with the 4 center Companies known as “Chasseurs” (Fusiliers) with Yellow Plumes and two Flank Companies, one of “Carabiners” (Grenadiers) with Yellow/Red Plumes, and one of “Voltigeurs” (Light Co.) with Yellow/Green Plumes. All figures are painted and based here. No outsourcing of labor, hands on care. The figures are mounted 4 to a (1-1/4” long) base with 16 Chasseurs, 4 Carabiners and 4 Voltigeurs and 3 Command Figures. They are mounted in a looser “zig-zag” formation, as they were Light Troops and when performing as such they would be spread out a bit. The pictures: 1 and 2 are in two deep line, with the Flank Companies on the corners 3 and 4 are in Attack Column Formation with Flank Companies in back of Column. 5 is in Single Line Formation, a Skirmish Line about 8” long with Command in center and the Flank Companies on the Wings, Carabiners on the Right of the formation, Voltigeurs on the Left. This is how they would look as a full Battalion in Skirmish Formation, behind them would be Columns or Lines of Line Infantry obscured. I really wish I could have gotten a better closer look, as that is probably the formation they would be using most, Skirmishing! 6 and 7 are also in Skirmishing Line, with an emphasis on the detail and showing the Carabiner Company in their place on the Right of the Line, and the Voltigeur Company on the Left. 8, 9 just shows the amount of detail on these. Buttons, Epaulettes Trimmed, Pockets, Shakos full with trim and Plumes, brass tipped scabbards. The Cuffs on all have the thin white line that was common on Light Infantry uniforms. 10 is More Detail and a look at the backs of each company type. On the left are Yellow/Red Plumed Carabiners, the Center Chasseurs, the Right Voltigeurs. I hope that these pictures do justice to the figures. They are painted to a very high standard and sealed. There is so much detail and it is not often that Light Battalions are represented in French Napoleonic Armies. Ask if you want more details, pictures.
