Description: I have got to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! Back in the day, Revell and others would create models to fit into their standard boxes without regard to any standard scale. Sometimes this was referred to as Box Scale. This is one of those kits and it turns out to be the Honest John Missile and Mobile Carrier in 1/54 scale. The M31 Honest John missile system was a short range (15 miles) unguided nuclear-capable artillery rocket that was fielded in Europe from 1953 to 1973. This kit gives you the option of a disassembled, crated missile or a fully assembled missile, ready to fire. In addition, you get the truck / launcher and a couple of figures. The molds are over 60 years old, so they are certainly not up to modern molding standards. However, I would still recommend this as a fun project for a beginning modeler. I only found one listing for this kit on eBay (from Korea) but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this to you very quickly. Here is what I have found online about this rare and nostalgic kit: The Revell website no longer shows this kit, so I assume it has been Discontinued or is Out of Production. From other sources, I have found the following blurb about the Honest John Missile System plus a few of the kit features: This Revell model is shown transporting an Honest John Missile from the Douglas Aircraft Plant to an Army depot. Dismantled and crated, the missile is loaded on a flat-bed trailer. This 33-foot trailer features a specially designed springing system which utilizes torsion bars rather than the normal leaf spring arrangement. As an example of modern day heavy transportation equipment, the trailer combination certainly warrants a spot in your Revell collection. Features:• Missile comes apart for packing into separate crates on trailer• Truck hood lifts to show detailed engine assembly• Trailer unhitches from cab• All 18 wheels turn• Molded in 2 colors• 2 figures included• New colorful decals for this Limited Edition release Scalemates.com shows this is a 2011 Revell Classics limited edition release based on the venerable 1958 tooling. They provide a link to download the complete 12-page instruction set and painting / decal guide. There are also many links to reviews, references and galleries of Martin B-57 and English Electric Canberra bombers to help you get the details right. Volker Helms gives us a brief First Look Review on the German-language ipmsdeutschland.de site that has nine photos that show the sprues and decals. He points out that the plastic is from the original molds, but the decals are much newer (2011). His succinct conclusion was: “An interesting, recommendable nostalgic kit”. Paul A H published a short In-Box Review on the britmodeller.com forum site that shows the kit contents in a few high-resolution photos. He runs through the very simple construction steps and leaves us with the following Conclusion: “As with many of the other Revell Classics this may not appeal to you if you want to build the ultimate Honest John and carrier, but it can be a fun little project nonetheless.” This kit is in a nice “throwback” box about 14” x 8” x 2.5”. As you can see from the pictures, the kit is in great shape and still sealed with large tape disks, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains over 100 green and white plastic parts and a set of modern decals to make a nostalgic model of the Honest John surface-to-surface artillery rocket with Kenworth truck and trailer and two figures. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays the winning bid and for a limited time I am offering this classic item with $6 Flat Rate Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions and listings for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
