Description: I have to clear some space on my shelves, so I need to reluctantly part with some of my collection. Tamiya has been creating excellent 1/48 scale aircraft since the 1970s in their 61000 series. They have continued to improve that lineup with new technology and improved molding capabilities. In 2022, they expanded the series to include the F-35A Lightning II and they really knocked it out of the park! This is the follow-up to that amazing kit, bringing all the changes that make the F-35B a wonder of V/STOL and stealth technology. This ultra-modern kit is loaded with exquisite detail and many options and features to let you model this Lightning the way you want with a seated pilot figure, positionable surfaces and canopies and a wide array of weapon and configuration choices. This is definitely a world-class release that can become a breathtaking masterpiece in the right hands. There are plenty of listings on eBay for this kit (mostly from Japan and other distant overseas sellers), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have it in stock and can reliably ship this kit very quickly. Here are some of the details about this milestone kit that I found from around the web: The tamiya.com site gives over a dozen wonderful photos of several finished models, as well as every sprue along with the following blurb about the subject and list of kit features: An Ambitious Design The F-35® Lightning II is an ambitious project that aims to provide - in a single overarching design - aircraft tailored to three different services' distinct needs; that it does in the form of the F-35A (for the Air Force), F-35B (Marines) and F-35C (Navy). Perhaps the most stunning of the three is the innovative F-35B, which was designed to succeed the AV-8B Harrier II, and is a short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) aircraft thanks to a lift fan installed between the cockpit and the engine, plus the 3 Bearing Swivel Module mechanism. Rather impressively, it also manages to combine extremely low observability characteristics with exemplary situational awareness provided by the numerous sensors across the aircraft. The F-35B is expected to serve mainly from aircraft carriers and amphibious assault ships; as of 2023, the British Royal Navy and the Italian Navy have started deployment, and the Japan Air Self Defense Force also expects to see F-35Bs with its units from 2024. · 1/48 scale kit. Length: 325mm, wingspan: 222mm.· The model can be assembled as one of three types: parked, short takeoff and vertical landing.· Fine recreations of Radar Absorbent Material (RAM) are molded into fuselage surfaces.· Engine duct and nozzle are assembled into one of three positions depending upon the type of model chosen.· The engine nozzle is made up of 5 parts and gives an accurate, crisply detailed finish.· Parts are included for raised and lowered versions of control surfaces.· A stand is provided for use when assembling a vertical landing model.· The lift fan is integrated with the nose landing gear bay.· This model offers excellent fuselage interior detail.· A full complement of ordnance includes AIM-9X and AIM-120C missiles, plus GBU-12 and GBU-32 bombs.· A total of seven marking options is included, covering aircraft from three nations. Scalemates.com shows that this is a 2023 release based on the brand-new tooling from 2022. They show the outstanding box art and provide a link to download the complete 60-page instruction set and painting guide. They also provide links to reviews, books, aftermarket parts and galleries of completed F-35 kits. Stu Fone posted a fantastic In-Box Review on the keymodelworld.com site with around two dozen professional photos of the exquisitely detailed parts and extensive decal sheets. He spells out the three options for flight configuration (parked, short take-off and vertical landing) and three weapons options (stealth, air-to-air & beast mode). As much as he loved the original F-35A kit, I believe he likes this one even more, saying: “Tamiya has been quick to follow it’s gorgeous 1/35 F-35A with the short take-off/vertical landing F-35B variant, in what’s essentially a completely fresh kit.” Dave Morissette did an exceptional Build Review on the reviews.ipmsusa.org site. Having previously reviewed the parent kit of the F-35A (TAM #61124), he highlights the differences between this release and the amazing original. With three optional configurations (Parked, Short Take-off & Vertical Landing), the instructions do a great job of keeping everything straight. The review contains fifteen clear photos of his masterfully finished model, and his final words were: “This is another absolutely phenomenal kit- perfect fit, lots of options and markings and a blast to build. I cannot say enough good about it. Go get and build one and enjoy yourself.” Modellbau-Koenig produced a 30-minute Unboxing Video on YouTube that is in German. The first third is spent on the enormous instruction set and huge painting guides. Then he methodically goes through the plastic parts, pointing out the exceptional detail and molding quality. I am sure we are missing out on some important comments, but you definitely get a great look at the parts. This kit is in a large, beautifully illustrated box about 19” x 11.5” x 4”. As you can see from the pictures, the package is immaculate and still sealed with tape strips, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This item contains one complete injection molded plastic model kit with over 300 grey and clear plastic parts, two metal parts, a variety of weapon loads, painting masks and three sheets of decals to create a F-35B Lightning II in miniature with a pilot figure and stand. It requires cement and paint to complete as shown. I use eBay Managed Payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays winning bid and for a limited time, this large and heavy item is offered with $12 Flat Rate Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
