Description: 1/48 CEM 48034 FM-2 Prop Correction Set for Eduard kit. This listing is for 1/48 CEM 48034 FM-2 Prop Correction Set Set is designed has a drop in replacement propeller for the 1/48 Eduard FM-2 series kit prop. Eduard's kit itself supplies different prop hub options to adress changes covering the airframes from its earliest type to the latest FM series. The prop parts supplied are parts "M4" (Curtis Electric Hub), "P19" (Hamilton Standard hub with Round Dome cover molded directly on hub and blades being non-cuffed round tipped blades), "P20" Curtis Electric hub molded with no cover and non cuffed pointed tipped blades to which one is directed to attach part "M4". Many references indicate that late FM-2's and for the most part Martlet were the only FM series wildcats seen with an actual Hamilton standard prop hub and round ended non cuffed blades. This being a rarety, most images of FM-2's have them sporting a Curtis Electric hub paired with found tipped non cuffed blades. Eduards attempt to address many options is a challenge while trying to maintain tooling costs to a minimum. Unfortunately their only option was to have one lop of the dome cover off part "P19" which in essence is still the housing of a Hamilton standard hub and glue the Curtis Electric hub onto the remainder of "P19". This does not accurately depict what was more normally seen in images of the FM-2. Also, if one is to attempt this, joining the two parts is a butt join and centering the C.E. hub center mass of the H.S. inaccurate has it is, will prove a challenge without alignment aids. Part "P20" which is to represent the Curtiss electric hub is undersized and one is only left with the option of either using the earlier Wildcat pointed blade tips not seen on the FM-2 or loping off the blades from one prop hub and transposing them placing the modeler in another of dealing with three blades being joined to a undersized C.E. hub with butt joins and no way of maintaining blade pitch angle. What my set does: -Provides properly sized Curtiss Electric hub. -Appropriate covers commonly depicted on most FM-2 Wildcats being the C.E. stepped hub cover or longer pointed cover -Provides keyed non cuffed 10' round tipped blades normally paired with the C.E. hub -Enhance hub and hub cover detail with rivets and vent/access holes where appropriate not able to be injection molded without slide molding.Use cyanocrylate to adhere together.Check out my other offerings at my store.Shipping available to CONUS, Australia, Canada and United Kingdom only.
