Description: I need to clear some space on my shelves, so I have to part with some of my collection. Back in 1983, Tamiya started a partnership with Italeri to co-brand select releases of aircraft and armor in their Tamiya Italeri Series. It started with the SR-71 Blackbird and this is the sixth release in the series from 2010. The aircraft parts are all from Italeri and Tamiya kicked in a couple of crew figures and their own decals, I believe. I have always had a soft spot for amphibious planes like the PBY Catalina and these smaller floatplanes. The Arado was an iconic part of the Kreigsmarine and was carried on all of the capital ships of the German navy. Now you can have a big one! I could only find one listing for this kit on eBay (getting hard to find), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this item in stock and can reliably ship this kit to you very quickly. Here is some of the information that I have found online about this amazing kit: The Tamiya website shows a gloriously finished model, along with full-color drawings of three aircraft and the following information about the Ar196A and the extensive kit features: German Navy's Significant Floatplane The Arado Ar196A was used by the German Navy and was used in a wide range of roles during WWII. The sturdy, low-wing monoplane metal construction was equipped with twin float and a 960hp BMW132K air-cooled radial engine that provided the aircraft with superb flight performance and stability on the sea surface. It was armed with two 7.9mm machine guns at the front and rear, two 20mm cannons, and hardpoints for 50kg bombs. Deployment began in 1939 and the aircraft were loaded onboard battleships Bismarck and Printz Eugen as well as auxiliary cruisers. In addition to shipboard units, they were also used by coastal reconnaissance units for reconnaissance, patrol, and anti-shipping missions using their heavy armament. The aircraft continued to conduct reconnaissance and patrol missions from coastal bases until the end of the war. · 1/48 scale plastic assembly kit model of the Arado Ar196A.
