Simply wash the pizza peel in warm water with mild soap. 2. Do not soak it. Rinse with clean water. Do not place on wet countertops. 3. Please note that the pizza peel is not safe for dishwasher. How to use a Pizza Peel If this is your first time using a pizza peel, you may be feeling nervous. We're not going to sugarcoat it ... it will be messy. The main objective when using the pizza peel to transfer your pizza, as obvious as it sounds, is to make sure the pizza moves freely on the pizza peel before you try and attempt the move onto the baking stone. This can be done by coating your pizza peel with a thin layer of cornmeal or flour before placing your dough and all its delicious toppings on top. If your dough moves around on your pizza peel when shaking it gently, then you are in good shape for the epic move (sliding the pizza onto the baking stone). Hold your pizza peel, with the pizza and all its toppings, then shuffle the pizza side to side to make sure that it is not stuck. Once you see that the pizza is able to move around, open your pre-heated oven (be careful of the rising heat) and tip the end of the pizza peel so that it is resting onto the far side of the baking stone. Once you are happy with its alignment, gently shufle the pizza side to side very slightly and pull the pizza peel back very slowly at the same time until the whole pizza is on the baking stone. Tip: Focus on siding the pizza peel from under the pizza rather than trying to slide the pizza off the board and onto the baking stone. Leave the pizza to bake for the recommended time and then when the base has cooked you will need to remove the pizza from the oven. To do this, slide the pizza peel between the pizza and the baking stone while keeping it flat and parallel to the surface of the stone. Once the pizza peel is fully underneath the pizza, lit it up and out of the oven. Caution: Because the base is no longer dough, it will move around on your pizza peel more easily, so be careful whilst maneuvering it.
