Description: This realistic Heubach piano baby is an antique gem from Lichte, Thuringia, Germany, and dates to 1882-1915. The piece is marked with the pressed sunburst mark on feet bottom. A number 32 in red ink and model number 658 are present as well. This baby's face displays rarer characteristics than other pieces of the same model. for example, the baby's mouth is open wider, raising his cheeks closer to his eyes. With chubbier cheeks, the artist captured with intricate delate the area around the baby's mouth and undereye with remarkable depth. This figurine is a rendition of a squatting boy who is embracing his legs with clasping hands. His head is turned. His naïve facial expression and endearing smile tells us he is delighted by something going on to his right. In addition, his body has been modelled with naturalistic detail reflected in his chubby legs and back. The effect of gravity in the baby can be observed on his skin. The figurine displays the characteristic naïveté and child-like expression of Heubach along with intaglio eyes and eyelids. This piece is gem and the perfect addition to any collection, Gebruder Heubach and doll collectors and would make a thoughtful gift for a special occasion or loved one.Condition – This figurine is in excellent condition for its age. The toes had an accident and broke of. They were professionally put back in place with museum quality materials. The restoration is invisible and cannot be felt to touch (marked in picture).
