Description: DESCRIPTION 104-76 BC Judea Alexander Jannaeus Prutah Widows Mite NGC Ancient 4PUF Up for sale is a small copper coin issued between 103-76 B.C. throughout Ancient Judea under the authority of Alexander Jannaeus. The obverse side depicts a radiant star. The coins reverse displays an anchor. This coin, known as a prutah, has been attributed by numismatists and Bible scholars as being a candidate for what is referred to as the Widows Mite. The account of a widow giving two copper coins to the coffers of the temple in Jerusalem is recorded in the Gospel of Mark 12:41-44 and in the Gospel of Luke 21: 1-4. This coin comes certified and sealed in a tamper-proof NGC holder. Please view photos and feel free to ask questions.
