Description: Stoneware tiles of mythical beasts are an ancient tradition, mounted on the ridges of the roofs of palaces and other important buildings to ward off evils and disasters. The tile is kiln-fired stoneware and is hand glazed in green and amber with white glaze on the eyes and mouth. It stands on a wooden base, carved with curled-under ends and painted gold. The tile has at one time been glued onto the base, but is now not attached. These pieces are in excellent condition-- no damage found, other than remnants of the glue. ROOF TILE measures: 10" tall (11" tall on stand) 8.5" long 3.5" wide weighs 3.12 lbs. (Weight including wooden stand: 4 lbs. 2 oz.) WOODEN STAND measures: 10.5" L x 5.75" W x 1" H
