Description: After the Carpathia and Captain Arthur H Rostron, resued Titanic's survivors in the lifeboats, Survivors Margaret Tobin "Molly" Brown and Dennis Telluride, comissioned artist Theodore Spicer Simson to create a special commemorative Medal to be given to Captain Rostron and his crew for their daring and heroic rescue on April 15, 1912. The circular medal measures 51mm. Only 500 pieces were struck in Bronze. This is one of the 500. Yes, it is in less than perfect condition, but it is a survivor. I have been unable to decifer a number stamped into the edge but there is some faint writing. But God only knows how many of these 112 year old medallions even survived. Numismatic News calls this the "Rarest of all Titanic Coins." The last one that I saw sold at Auction was through Christies in 2002, and it sold for GBP 1763, USD $2,315.13. That was 22 years ago; no telling what it would fetch today! I am retiring and downsizing and so I have decided to let someone else enjoy this. It makes me sad because I know that I'll probably never see another one, but I feel fortunate to have owned it for a while. Now, it's your turn.
